Vegas

We recently went to Las Vegas and oh boy HOWDY did we have fun!! The weekend was a whirlwind of dinners out and gambling and dressing up all glitzy. We stayed at the Venetian which was super nice. It is only a trip I can do every once in a while though...

Life is Good

Ok things are looking up since the last post. I decided to breathe some life back into myself and GET HAPPY! I've had a sore throat this week but other than that everything is rolling along quite nicely. Michael is just about on his last nerve with the boys and girls club. He seems happy when I pick him up but OMG the complaining!!!! He whines about going and says that they serve tuna every day (his least favorite food on the planet)! Every day?? I don't think so. Tomorrow the kids and I are going to spend the day buying stuff for camp. Angie bought Michael all of his bathroom things, a big new towel and some "manly body wash" which was nice. Well, I guess I will sign off for now.

Naknek Blues

Now I know that if both women and men were polled and asked whether they would enjoy a six week vacation from their spouse once a year, the answer would be an overwhelming yes. But let me tell you something straight from the heart...IT SUCKS!!!! I miss him. I miss the sound of the T.V. and him being out in the garage and the way he anally organizes the canned food. Thank God I have my summer partner, Michael. He doesn't give me a chance to be lonely because he talks to me non-stop from the time we wake up in the morning until I have to make him be quiet in bed at night. Nooooo it's not that bad, but still. I fare pretty well here alone (Jamie's usually gone all summer) these days, but when I get those phone calls every once in a great while from him it sounds like he's on the other side of the world. It's really noisy and he's like yelling because he can't hear me very well. I just get kind of sad and heavy. But of course then I feel stupid for feeling sorry for myself when I think about what he is actually doing...fish guts, big waves no sleep no food and the ultimate worst for Joe...the wet cigarette! I'm sure I will survive and I know I could have a lot worse problems than missing Joe and it would take forever to name all of the things I have to be thankful for. So for now I will say this: Be safe Joe.

Hi Everyone....

Happy June! Almost summer...the kids are on their final week before school gets out and the days seem to be going by so fast. I can remember that feeling, you know, turning in all of your text books, end of the year parties, field trips, etc. Except when I was little it was really HOT the last week of school. Here it is chilly and breezy. I guess Andy was right when he said, "There's nuthin like the coast." He's said a few other memorable sayings that are worth remembering, which I will try to remember and include when I can. haha. It looks like it's going to be a "regular" summer for us. My family totally disbands in the summertime. Joe is off to Alaska and Jamie has a full calendar (away from home). Her plans are as follows: Weekend with her dad when school gets out and then to Granny's for X number of weeks (to be determined by how much fun they have). Then to Gustine for 4th of July week. Then to camp for a week and home for a couple of days before we leave to Disneyland. Big major school clothes shopping for high school and then to whatever family trip we plan for MY birthday weekend (I'm thinking Kinocti Harbor...anyone who wants to go is welcome!) Whew! It makes me tired (and broke) just thinking about it. K that's all for now.

Mom's porch swing

This is what you see when you sit on the porch swing and look up

James and Me

My Street

It's been a super long time since I posted. Before homecoming I think. Going up to Corning was good. It was too cold to go to the Homecoming game, so we didn't. The parade was cheezy and funny and all of the old farts from my high school days were escorted through town in old fashioned cars...Mr. Gott in a horse drawn carriage, because that's how old he is. I'm afraid that the next time we see him is going to be in a Corning Cardinal's coffin. The high school floats weren't what they used to be...what happened? We used to spend hours at float parties making flowers out of toilet paper. The senior float was so bad it reminded me of the Eat Me float on Animal House. Oh well, times change. The CUHS spirit was definitely high though

Michael

I'm so glad this week is over. Sometimes my job bores me so bad I could put my head down on my desk and snore the afternoon away. I mean there are things I really like about it...like I get to talk to people from all over the country every day. I love that. I have this new thing now. I'm way into this website called Tripadvisor.com where people post reviews and pictures of places they've traveled so you can see where to go, where to stay, eat, scenery, etc. It's cool. So anyway when somebody calls me and says, "Hi I'm so and so from Romulus, NY" I get on my tripadvisor and see what it looks like there. It's a really cheap way to travel, you should try it.

The sunlight was hitting these flowers in such a way that I couldn't stop staring at them.

Michael & Co.

Way to go Jamie!!

I got a call from Jamie's school yesterday and they told me that she got straight As and that they are going to surprise them and take them to In and Out Burger for lunch in a limo!!! How cool is that???

I'm a lazy blogger

omg it's been so long since I posted. I created the blog with every intention of faithfully documenting the life of Mar. So here I go....again. Life has been fairly uneventful as of late. Last weekend I went to Joe's family reunion with Angie and my kids. No Joe and no Andy. He owes me. It was the same group of family members as always. Nice people. I do notice every year that the family seems to be growing all the time. New babies and toddlers everywhere. They were so so cute!
I'm thinking about going to Corning for Homecoming this year. CUHS homecoming was quite an event in town when I grew up. It still is. There is a big parade where the homecoming queen, bedecked in a long, boobie revealing dress complete with satin sash and her cabinet are driven through town while doing the queen wave. CUHS alumni, silver and gold ride through town in their old people glory on a big float. Oh it's a celebration. Then come evening time, there is a big alumni dinner in the cafeteria where you can eat turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy and look at old class pictures that line the cafeteria. When I was young one of my favorite things was showing my friends where my brothers and sisters and parents were in those pictures. I think my favorite is the foodball game. I'll never forget the sounds and smells of a Corning football game, and it's kinda funny to run into people you haven't seen for decades. I love it! I used to hate it...what a weirdo.

Weeds

I was walking around out in Grandpa's field after Grandma died and there were so many of these little patches of weeds. They were so pretty that I had to post them. They remind me of how simple and how pretty life really is.

Our Anniversary

Today is our anniversary. I met Joe 10 years ago on my birthday, the day I turned 29. We've been married for eight years (my personal record). There is something really cool about being with somebody for years....I know I have grown a lot in the last 10 years and I'm happy that life has turned out the way it has. We have 2 kids and a happy home. Now let's see what the next ten years bring...

My Birthday

I turned 39 yesterday. No biggie, pretty uneventful. All of my people wished me happiness and health. As long as I have that....and them, I will be fine and dandy. A couple of people said, "You look good for being 39." What is that supposed to mean? Does it mean that for an old person I look ok? Or would I not look so ok if I were 26? Hmmm....I wonder what they'll say NEXT year. I'm not really worried about it. I've said for some time now that when I turn 40 I want to be in the best health of my life. Iwant to be physically healthy, healthy in my mind, in my spirit...you know what I mean. Anyway, I'm happy. I have a lot to be thankful for. :)
